Hawarden Players, are heading back to school for their latest play, The Happiest Days of Your Life by John Dighton and, if you think that the title of the play sounds a little familiar then you’d be right! The play itself was turned into a very memorable film of the same title starring Margaret Rutherford and Alastair Sim back in the good old days of black and white.
The story begins when evacuated all girls school St Swithens is sent to reside with all boys school Hilary Hall. When the two schools collide the stage is set for all sorts of hilarity! Girls meet boys, Masters meet Mistresses and it’s chisels drawn and tuck boxes at twenty paces! Add to that the mystery ‘tool bag treacler’, a militant caretaker and two sets of unexpected parents and you have a recipe for a rip roaring farce that is guaranteed to make watching this one of the happiest and memorable days for our audience too!
