Mirror Mirror: The Panto – Next Week!

Following their successful summer production, the Hawarden Players are again taking to the stage later this month to perform Mirror Mirror: The Pantomime, which brilliantly blends the tales of Jack and the Beanstalk and Snow White!

Cast With Banner

Princess Snow White is approaching her 21st birthday and will become the rightful ruler of the kingdom, but her evil stepmother, the Wicked Queen and the bumbling ladies in waiting Cissy and Ada will do anything it takes to stop her. Smitten Jack tries to aid the Princess, but does this tough cookie really need his help? And then there’s Mamma Meatball who is always on hand with jokes, words of wisdom and occasionally a water pistol!

Add to that singing, dancing, audience participation and a visit from our very special guest Pat the Cow, and you have an afternoon or evening that is fun for all the family!

Performances take place at the Hawarden Institute Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th January at 7.30pm, with matinees being held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th at 3.00pm

Tickets are just £7 for adults and £5 for children and can be bought from hawardenplayers.com, by calling 01244 531085, from the Hawarden post office, or on the door on the day of performance!

More Success For The Players!

As we begin our new season, and look forward to our next pantomime (all the details coming soon!), the Hawarden Players again attended the CCTA awards evening, where am-dram groups from the area come together to reflect on the past 12 months in local theatre.

The Hawarden Players were once again thrilled to receive lots of positive feedback from the adjudicators that came to watch both Alice in Jungleland: The Panto, and our summer play Surprise Package.

Several members of the group were nominated for awards through the course of the evening, and we are very proud to announce some winners:

Denise Garland was the recipient of our first award, for her dedication and consistent hard work in costuming the group over the years, all while performing in acting roles, and being the group secretary!

Fiona Burdsall and Kevin Dye were presented awards for their roles as The Mad Hatter, and Dame Dolly respectively within in Alice In Jungleland, as well as co-writing the script!

And finally….

The Hawarden Players were presented with a special award for our community spirit!  The group are very proud to have received this accolade, as we appreciate more than ever the attendance, support and efforts of the local area for every performance we hold at the Hawarden Institute, and every event we attend during the year.

The next thing to do on the Hawarden Players agenda, is tell you all about this years pantomime, something we will be doing very soon!  Oh yes we will!!

One Week To Go.

There’s only 7 Days to go until the Hawarden Players take to the stage for their performance of ‘Surprise Package’, and its full steam ahead!

The set is in place, the group are running the entire show in rehearsals, and the final few notes are being given by the director, to ensure this is the best show the group have ever put on!

This weekend sees out lights getting set, and our sound getting programmed, leaving the cast to enjoy their final dress rehearsals in preparation for opening night, Thursday 24th July!

Surprise Package is a hysterical farce, focusing on the trials and tribulations of the Tinsley family’s dubiously booked package holiday to Pension Maria in Formentera, performed brilliantly by the group, under the direction of Fiona Burdsall.

With the laughs coming thick and fast from the opening moments, and the return of a licensed bar, this guarantees to put you in the summer holiday spirit

Tickets for performances taking place on Thursday 24th, Friday 25th, and Saturday 26th July 2014 are on sale for just £7 from our TICKETS PAGE.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures of our final rehearsals:
