This year we are proud to present our first ever SPRING panto: Annie Baba and The Four Tea Leave, writen by Fiona Burdsall

Come and join Annie and her hapless companions as they embark on an adventure to gain riches & power beyond their wildest dreams.

Performances will take place on
Friday 18th March – 7.30pm
Saturday 19th March – 3.30pm & 7.30pm
Sunday 20th March – 3.30pm

Judy returns from holiday to her job as receptionist in a vet’s practice, to find things have changed while she has been away. One of the partners has been hospitalised with appendicitis, and Mr Skarowitz, a locum from eastern Europe, appointed to fill in.

He has re-trained to become a vet, and it is probably best not to ask what his original job was. His methods are unorthodox, as is his equipment which includes items from a DIY store, a joke shop, various kitchen appliances, a sewing machine and even something from the local zoo! Although he speaks good English, his understanding of it is entirely literal.

Cue a series of misunderstandings with patients, some of which have unexpected outcomes, none more so than with Miss Fylde’s rabbit. Oh, and Mrs Kent’s dog.

Despite the mayhem going on about them, nothing stops Judy telling her colleague, Sally, all the gossip from her holiday to Greece…. or should that be Spain!?

The Hawarden Players are thrilled to announce our play talking place in July 2018 will be…

‘Don’t Get Your Vicars in a Twist’ is set in 1993, the year the first female vicar was ordained in the UK, and is a fast-moving farce full of fun, frolics, near misses and doors opening and closing!

Desperate to find the funds to pay for his daughter’s wedding, Church Warden, George Williams, seizes the opportunity to rent out the vicarage while waiting for a new vicar to be appointed. The booking is to a touring Theatre Company, who are to stage a Murder Mystery weekend in which a female Vicar and a Bishop are among the cast.

Unfortunately for George, a new female Vicar is appointed to the vicarage just before the Murder Mystery weekend can take place. George thinks he is still in luck when the new Vicar, Caroline Timberlake announces that she is to visit friends at a college reunion over the weekend. However, events take a turn for the worse when Bishop Herbert rings the vicarage to announce that he is to visit to meet his new vicar.

Chaos ensues as the actor playing the Bishop in the Murder Mystery weekend is mistaken by George and fellow Churchwarden Alan, for the real Bishop Herbert and the Bishop himself mistakes the actor playing the Vicar for Caroline.

Matters get worse as half of the Theatre Company fails to make an appearance and the remainder spend most of their time either fighting with each other or getting drunk, or both. This is even before we meet the guests!

Performances will take place on the 26th, 27th and 28th July 2018, 7.30pm at the Hawarden Institute, with tickets on sale now from our Purchase Page.

Here is your preview of what to expect from Camelot: A Knight To Remember!

The kingdom of Camelot is in turmoil.  King Arthur has died and, despite her best efforts, Queen Qwynydd Dear has been unable to find a new husband in time to save the monarchy.

The Knights of the Rowdy Table are next to useless and the evil Morganna (Arthur’s half sister) is waiting, ready to snatch the crown.

The only thing that is standing in her way is Lester The Jester.  He’s always wanted to be a knight, and now is his chance.  Assisted by the Knights themselves, Merlin the Magician, Harriet and Lester journey to find the mystical Lady of the Lake, who can lead them to Excalibur, and attempt to save Camelot from the wicked Morganna.  There is just one problem.  The Lady of the Lake is on her holidays in Orlando, and she’s left things in the not so capable hands of her cousin.

It’s now a race against time through the dark and creepy forest, dodging the ghosts along the way.

Performances take place at the Hawarden Institute on Saturday 20th January at 3.00pm and 7.30pm, Friday 26th January at 7.30pm and Saturday 27th January at 7.30pm.

Doors will open 30 minutes before the show begins, and this year we are please to offer a licensed bar for our evening performances
