Sian Parry – whom some of you may remember as the always enthusiastic sports mistress, Miss Gossage in last years production of Happiest Days of Your Life; or more recently Lolita, one third of our Mexican villains the Tequila Triplets, in Wild West: The Panto – Has bravely stepped up to direct the Players latest offering, and a fine job she is doing of such an undertaking!

Blocking is almost complete already, and its safe to say that rehearsals have already been host to many of the most hilarious moments in Hawarden Players history!

Performances of “The F.A.H.E.T.G.D.S’s Production of ‘Macbeth'” will take place Friday 13th & Saturday 14th July 2012.  Tickets will be available shortly from www.hawardenplayers.com

In the meantime, please have a browse through a few pictures of rehearsals in action below!

A New Season….

Following the success of Wild West: The Panto, the Hawarden Players will shortly be revealing the next show to be rehearsed over the upcoming months, leading to performances in the Summer.

If you would like to attend the first read-through of the play, regardless of any previous acting experience you may or may not have, feel free to pop along to Mancot Village Hall, on Tuesday 21st February, at 8:00pm. We will welcome any new members (aged 16 and above) with open arms, and are looking to recruit people willing to help in any capacity be it on stage or behind the scenes.

Again this will just be an informal gathering to get a feel for the new show, and give you a chance to have a look at the script before auditions take place at a later date.

Hopefully see you at Mancot Village Hall, Tuesday 21st Feb, 8:00pm!

Panto Season Over – Oh Yes It Is!

In the space of less than a fortnight, 5 months of hard work put in by all involved with the Hawarden Players has come to a head.  The group performed 2 weekends worth of shows for brilliant audiences travelling far and wide to get their annual fix of pantomime madness provided by the Players.  We are all thrilled with how every performance went, and hope anyone who came to see us had a great few hours out!  The feedback we have received in person, on this website, and on our Facebook Page has been fantastic, and is greatly welcomed!

Pictures were being taken left, right, and centre to be uploaded to the website, and can be found by clicking the following links:

But for now, all that remains is to say a HUGE thank you to anyone that took part in the show, and each individual that helped out behind the scenes in whatever capacity they could.

But an even bigger thank you to each and every audience member that came along and supported the Hawarden Players latest panto venture, and gave us all the cheers, boo’s, laughter, and applause that makes it all worth it, and allows us to perform in shows we will remember fondly, and go down as a great achievement in the Hawarden Players history books!

See you for our next play, taking place July 2012!

Wild West: The Panto

Hawarden Players Go Wild For Panto!

Following the recent successes of “Cinderella” and “The Happiest Days of Your Life”, award winning drama group, the Hawarden Players, are taking a walk on the wild side for their next production: ‘Wild West: The Panto’, and invite you to don your cowboy hat and boots, and join them on the journey .

Written by Fiona Burdsall, and directed by Daniel Ellis and Jane Ainscough, the panto follows our hero, young cowboy Jo, and his somewhat unusual sidekick on their adventures and encounters in the dusty town of Big Gulp and beyond.

“Rehearsals for ‘Wild West: The Panto’ have been a joy to be a part of, and I hope that will shine through when we come to perform our show” said Dan Ellis, co-director. “How many other productions in the Flintshire area can boast they have cowboys, Indians, Mexicans, an outrageous dame and a pantomime classic character of the four legged variety, all coming together to give an audience a hilarious, and uplifting 3 hours of fun they will never forget?  Our show has everything you have come to expect from a panto and more. Songs that you know and love; dances that will get you boogying out of your seats, and a few surprising twists along the way!  We are fresh off winning an award for our ‘Outstanding Endeavour in Community Theatre’ and are extremely enthused by the support shown by the local areas in supporting the Hawarden Players. Anyone who has ever witnessed one of our plays or pantomimes would agree they leave with a huge smile on their face, and this panto will definitely leave you wanting more!”

Performances of ‘Wild West: The Panto’ will take place at the Hawkesbury Little Theatre, Mill Lane, Buckley on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st January 2012.  Doors open at 7.00pm, with the curtain going up at 7.30pm.  There will also be a special matinee performance on the Saturday 21st January, with doors opening at 1:00pm and the show starting at 1.30pm.  Tickets are on sale now, priced just £6 for adults and £5 for children and can be obtained by calling the ticket hotline on 01244 531085.  Tickets are also available online by clicking here; from Sweet Memories sweet shop, located within Daleside Nurseries, Hawarden; or on the door the night of the performance, but be warned tickets are selling fast!

Success At Local Awards Night

The Hawarden Players have added another trophy to their rapidly increasing collection!

On Sunday 18th September 2011, the group attended the CCTA Awards for local am-dram groups based in the North East Wales area.  Both of our 2011 productions (‘Cinderella’ and ‘The Happiest Days of Your Life’) were entered for adjudication based on performances.

We were very proud first, to have a “Outstanding Individual Performance” nomination go to our very own Jane Ainscough for her brilliant portrayal of Miss Whitchurch in ‘Happiest Days of Your Life’.  An acknowledgement which we are sure any attending audience member will agree was thoroughly well deserved!

The Hawarden Players were thrilled when later we were presented with the Adjudicators Special Award for “Outstanding Endeavour in Community Theatre”.  This is an accolade we are especially pleased to receive, as we feel our links with the community are currently at their strongest ever, and we as a group thrive off the attendance and support given to us by our audiences every production!
